Welcome to Beyond the Stereotype, an inspiring career pathway initiative designed specifically for Black high school students within the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB).
Hosted at the Georgian College Barrie Campus in partnership with The Black Fathers Alliance (TBFA), this program is dedicated to dismantling conventional narratives. By connecting students with exceptional Black professionals thriving in unique, non-stereotypical fields, we aim to open doors to limitless career possibilities.

Program Structure & Event Days
To give students the most relevant experience possible, the program is divided into two age-specific standalone events:
Senior Day (Grades 11 & 12) Oct. 27, 2026
- Focus: Mentorship & Actionable Next Steps
- How it Works: The day kicks off with a main-stage professional panel. Afterward, students transition to intimate, small-group roundtable rotations where they receive direct, personal guidance and tactical networking insights from mentors.
Junior Day (Grades 9 & 10) March 9, 2027
- Focus: Career Exposure & Discovery
- How it Works: Tailored for students just starting high school, this day features an interactive career-discovery game. Students actively cross-examine mentors, decipher clues to solve professional portfolios, and explore alternative paths in a fun, low-pressure setting.
