The Birth of a Kingdom: How The Black Fathers Alliance Came to Be

The empowerment of Black fathers was not just the vision of our founder, Daniel Carter, but something he deemed entirely necessary. After years of being a single father, he witnessed firsthand how negative stereotypes—labeling Black fathers as absent, unsupportive, or aggressive—were constantly being pushed onto them. These narratives were not only entirely false, but they were believed by far too many. Daniel saw it everywhere: from the way he was treated in family court, to schools being unwilling to cooperate to best support his children, to the judgmental looks and comments he received while out in public with his kids.

To Daniel, this was unacceptable. Black fathers have always been involved, loving, caring, and supportive, yet they were being demonized. For decades, a strategy to weaken the Black family by removing the head of the household had been at play, and a drastic change in the narrative was desperately needed. While fighting to break down the barriers of a system designed to keep him and other Black fathers out of their children’s lives, Daniel noticed a glaring gap: there was very little support available, and even less representation of Black fathers within existing support systems. So, when presented with the idea of starting a group specifically to support Black fathers, it was an obvious "yes." And thus, The Black Fathers Alliance was born in June 2024 because Black fathers have a voice, and it was time they were finally heard.

What started as simple group hangouts has grown into a kingdom built for Black fathers—a place where they can feel connected, heard, and supported. This system was uniquely designed to empower these men to not only become better versions of themselves, but to be the absolute best versions for their children, all while amplifying their ability and confidence to speak up for their families. Today, The Black Fathers Alliance proudly supports Black fathers from all walks of life. Whether they are new and expecting fathers, seasoned dads, those navigating the CAS (Children's Aid Society) system, imprisoned or re-entering fathers, or simply men looking to strengthen their parental bonds and build a stronger community to raise their children in, they have a home here.

We achieve this mission through a comprehensive network of dedicated programs tailored to uplift our community. We host Virtual Hangouts to provide safe digital spaces for open dialogue, alongside in-person Father-to-Father and Father-Child hangouts centered on peer support and intentional bonding. We offer vital System Navigation to help fathers guide through complex institutional systems, and we deliver our flagship K.I.N.G.S. Black Fatherhood program alongside educational webinars designed to strengthen the entire Black household. As we continue to grow, we are excited to expand our reach further with our newly developed youth mentor program launching in the Fall of 2026. Together, we are reclaiming the narrative, empowering men, and building a legacy for the next generation. 

 The Black Fathers Alliance (TBFA) is a dedicated community organization focused on empowering Black fathers and helping them navigate the unique challenges they face in today’s society. Because we understand that effective fatherhood requires not only love and commitment but also strategic knowledge and unwavering support, we work tirelessly to provide comprehensive resources and foster unbreakable bonds between fathers and their children. Together, we aim to build stronger families and communities while celebrating, elevating, and sustaining the vital, positive presence of Black men in their children’s lives. 

We envision a world where every Black father is recognized as a vital pillar of their family and community, equipped with the tools and confidence to raise healthy, successful, and resilient children.
